Net zoals papa of mama
Twee versies van dezelfde blikken speelgoed-schrijfmachine. Het 'toetsenbord'
is nep, want dit is een 'indexmachine'. Het kind kiest eerst de letter door het
centrale wiel te draaien en drukt die dan tegen het papier met de rechterhendel.
Omslachtig, maar didactisch. En het heeft toch mooi zijn eigen schrijfmachine
'net zoals papa of mama'.
Dit speelgoedje van Duits fabrikaat was populair in Duitsland en Amerika. Het
stamt uit de jaren dertig van de twintigste eeuw. Het bestaat in ontelbare
uitvoeringen. Zoals mijn zwarte op een geolied kartonnen plankje in een
kartonnen doos, en de ivoorkleurige op een metalen basis onder een roodmetalen
deksel.
De GSN Junior werd in Stein/Nuremberg (Duitsland) gemaakt door de gebroeders Schmidt Brothers.
Just like pappy and mommy
Two versions of the same toy typewriter made of tin. The 'keyboard' is not
real as this is an 'index machine'. The child first chooses a letter by turning
the central wheel and presses that against the paper with the right hand lever.
It is time-consuming, yet didactical. Still, the child does have its own
typewriter just like 'pappy and mommy'.
This little toy of German make, was popular in Germany and America. It is
from the nineteen thirties and comes in countless versions. Like, for example,
my black version on an oiled cardboard board in a cardboard box, and the ivory
colored one on a metal base under a red tin cover.
The GSN Junior was made in Stein/Nuremberg (Germany) by the Schmidt Brothers.
