Snelheidsmonster met flair
De Fox Visible die in 1906 op de markt komt, heeft het helemaal. Door
zijn
concept, nu zijn typearmen eindelijk vooraan in plaats van onderaan tegen de rol
slaan, zodat je kunt zien wat je typt. Zijn looks met glooiende lijnen en
fraaie versieringen. En zijn snelheid
door de lichte aanslag en shift. Maar vooral door de 'speed escapement' die de wagen
razendsnel doorschuift na elke toetsaanslag. Zo brengt de machine zelfs de snelste
typist nooit in verlegenheid.
Stoot onder de gordel door Corona
En toch ... toch legt het bedrijf de boeken neer in 1921. Mogelijk door de
rechtszaak die Corona heeft aangespannen wegens vermeend kopieerwerk van zijn
Corona 3 voor de draagbare 'Baby Fox'. De kosten van de
rechtszaak zijn een te zware financiële dobber voor Fox, dat maar een kleine
winstmarge heeft op zijn snelheidsmonsters.
Speed devil with flair
Because of its concept, the Fox Visible that comes onto the market in
1906, has it all. Type bars that at last strike the platen at the front instead
of underneath so you can see what you are typing. Looks with sloping
lines and fine adornments. Speed due to a light touch and shift. And last
but not least, the 'speed escapement' that pushes the carriage along at
full-speed after each key touch. Even the fastest typist will never embarrass
this machine.
Foul blow by Corona
And yet ... the company stops in 1921. This may have been due to the lawsuit
that Corona has instituted because of the alleged copying of its
Corona 3 for the portable 'Baby Fox'. The cost of the
lawsuit is too heavy a financial burden for Fox that only has a small margin of
profit on its speed devils.
